A Quintet of Skeletons

If you’ve been reading since last year, you’ll know that Halloween on our street is a big deal. HUGE. 1000+ kids huge.

And, so, we try to make our house fit in with the theme. Last year, we had 3 skeletons that graced our house – this year, we added 2 more, so we’re up to a quintet! They just add such whimsy and personality. Next year, the hope is to add 3 more, and have them climb the turret! We’ve really gotten into the spirit of Halloween, and despite the rain forecast, we’re looking forward to having so many people on our porch on Saturday.

Victorian houses look so good at Halloween. Check out this feature on This Old House about Victorian Architecture and Halloween.

Most of the theme is the same as last year, so I won’t re-type everything. But you can check it out here!

And, here’s the scene this year! In case you were wondering, I didn’t get any better at cobwebs this year. I’m still terrible.

Here are our two newest members : the second floor skeleton, and the porch crasher.

Our trio from last year is hanging out in the same spot.

I like this guy.

I bought a bunch of mums this year, and haven’t managed to kill them, which is AMAZING. Although, dead flowers probably go with the Halloween theme nicely. I decided to use these as a nesting ground for the ravens.

Cobwebs are my nemesis.

I decided to add some of Doug’s cast iron collection to our potions table. Every good haunted house needs a cauldron!

  1. Everything looks GREAT!! I love the skeletons! I may have to steal this for my house next year. I actually have a couple of dog skeletons that look really fierce – people love them. That porch sitting dude is the best. And by the way, your porch is all kinds of gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Steal away! Especially since I stole it first! Check out the link on this post from 2014 (Skeleton Invasion) and you can see the picture of the house that I stole the idea from. It’s amazing! I’m so glad you love the house, and now I need to look for some animal skeletons!

  2. Didn’t think I could be more in love with your house than I was… but now I am! ABSOLUTELY, WHIMSICALLY FABULOUS!!! Your posts are always a treat! No trick involved! 😉

  3. Looks super Amy! Made a special trip to your blog to see what was new this year. Are the cars lining up on your street for the same reason? They should, your work is fantastic! I especially like the purple beribboned wreath skeleton.
