If you asked me my favorite chore, it would be laundry. I’m not sure why, but I don’t mind it at all, and folding and ironing are some of the only times I let myself watch TV or movies – so I find it super relaxing. And getting the laundry room finished early in the renovation project was SUCH a nice thing, and it remains one of my favorite spaces in the house.

Week Six : Utilitarian Spaces!

Show us your Laundry Rooms, Mudrooms, Basements, Work Spaces, Craft Rooms, Potting Sheds, Workshops – any place where life is cleaned, created, or worked in!

I know I’ve posted on the laundry room, so this isn’t really new information, but it’s definitely my favorite utilitarian space in the house. And, it has so many facets that I was able to play with some light and shading and color and angle things with my camera. We’re getting ready to start organizing the basement into a workshop, and hopefully that will be a new favorite too (but probably with less Monkeys on the wall – and the room will be lesser for it).

Here’s the laundry room, right off the kitchen!

We use this room hard, and so far it’s held up really well.

The built in dog crate was one of the BEST thing. And it’s one of Marina’s favorite places to camp out.

This was the “Silhouette” feature on my camera, and I’m not totally convinced how I’m actually supposed to use it, but the lighting is fun and the wallpaper really pops!

I will never regret the ceiling color, or putting a chandelier in a work space. It delights me!

Old sewing machines are so freaking pretty. And I love having one in the space. They’re really cheap (when they don’t work) and function as art. I love the graphics and lettering.

Totally my monkeys. Totally my circus. This focus effect is pretty fun for close-ups!
