When I started looking at other photo projects out there, to see what other topics have been focused on, without fail, a Self Portrait was on the list. So, I put it in! Plus, I wanted to learn how to control my camera from my phone, which I did – but I actually liked using the self timer better than the remote using my phone. So, I guess I’m not too techie yet.

Week Seven : Self Portrait

Introduce yourself, maybe in a favorite spot in your home.

I really like Instagram so much for following other people’s house journeys. I love the blogs I follow, too, but there are a lot more people just taking pictures of projects on Intagram, and it’s really so inspiring. And so many of the old-house people I follow never take a selfie, which I TOTALLY get. I’m not really a huge selfie person, either (though I have dabbled from time to time). But I’m really excited for this week, to maybe “meet” some of the beautiful souls who have taken on the burden of loving such beautiful homes.

I took some self portraits in a few places, and here are my favorites…..

The Black Bedroom.

The Kitchen.

No Walls, Lots of Construction Materials.

(Lest you think we’re super polished.)

In a Nutshell.

This might be my favorite, in a completely untouched-by-us space. The beauty of the staircase, the crazy 90s wallpaper on the left, the banister that had been chainsawed in half and lovingly restored by previous owners, the painted over wood, the gold-leaf faux sponge paint, the fairy-tale like mural, the gel-paint-on-the-window that makes you think it’s stained glass (it’s not), and me, being swallowed by the enormity and splendor of it all.

Yep. That’s my favorite. It tells the truest story.
