I actually meant to blog on this room well before now, but disaster struck, and then we went on vacation. My laptop is dead. Completely. Most of my current pictures aren’t backed up yet, and they are only on my computer, so I’m completely lost. It’ll be fine – it’ll be recovered (right?) but right now, I am without the ability to show you much more than this. I actually had to go to school and write this post, and take some pictures on my phone. It’s so weird.
Week 26 : A Current Project!
Show us what you’re working on now!
I’m tackling Doug’s study, mostly on my own. This gives him a chance to get the basement organized into the shop that he wants, to help make future projects go faster. And the study is one of only a few rooms that doesn’t need massive change – it’s mostly cosmetic. So it’s almost all a one-person job!
Since my photos are all out of reach, here’s a shot of the room when we bought the house – and before I had my wide-angle lens.
You can also see a video of it from the video tour our friend Loren made.
WAY before. The carpet has been gone forever.
The wallpaper was well installed, but not to our taste. I think it had been there since the 90s.
The wallpaper removed! I had a whole post planned to show how it went, but it has to wait until I can get my pictures back.
So, the plan (in a nutshell!)!
Paint. Add some more moulding (beef up the crown, and add a picture rail). Add a ceiling medallion. Add wallpaper.
The wallpaper in this shot, is not available anymore. And I am so sad. But something similar to it. Like maybe this one? I have samples ordered for about 15 different types, so we’ll see. And I promise, this is my last room with black walls! Though it’ll feel a lot different than the second floor bedroom. I’m also sort of locked into the scheme because I want to give a nod to my husband’s alma mater (Purdue University).
This light is one of the few lights that was in the house when we bought it that we liked. It’s not original, but it’s pretty cool. And Doug LOVES this light. It’s currently in the library, and I think it’s a little undersized for the space, so it’s going to move to the Study.
That;s the (condensed) plan for the room. Stay tuned (and keep your fingers crossed about my computer!).
