On a trip to Cincinnati a while back, we stopped at a Salvage – Antique Store, Wooden Nickel. As often happens, we found something when we weren’t even looking for it.
I wasn’t ever considering putting a piece of stained glass into my studio, but when we found this, there was no way we could pass it up! It has so many of the colors in the wallpaper, including that bright turquoise which is not a crazy common color that I’ve often seen in stained glass.
And it’s a pair of Griffins! Gryphons? I’ve found a few spellings.
Both windows in the room would work, but the one facing the street is the PERFECT size. I mean, perfect. Plus, by putting it here, you can see it from the street when it’s lit up.
Here’s the view of the porch witch’s from the window we will be covering. Heres the problem : Normally, we would build a window like this in. But we need access to the ledge outside this window for the Halloween skeletons and Christmas. So we found a wal to make this removeable!
Oakley was a very helpful manager during this project!
Here’s a dryfit – which actually was so perfect that it mostly held on its own!
We decided to use latches meant for a casement window.
Pre-drilling VERY CAREFULLY.
I did not touch the wood – it came in that perfectly matched color!
This is the latch on the right side. The “hook” part is attached to the stained glass, and the turning latch is attached to the window frame. Yes, this means we put a efw holes in the frame. But we decided it was okay! There are holes elsewhere, and this is adding an element that is beautiful that we won’t be taking down. Except to hang skeletons.
LOOK AT THESE COLORS!
Let’s not discuss how badly that upper window needs cleaning. YIKES.
Manager Approved!
What a beauty.
You can see in this next video how perfectly the window fit – we did NOTHING to the frame!
I love it.
The colors with the wallpaper are PERFECTION.
Someday, I’ll get light balances right. But that day is not today. Or a month ago. Whenever I took this. But also not today.
I’ve started reading more. Because of this set up. It looks so good, and it was definitely made for this spot!

The colours are perfect! What an amazing find…it was definitely meant to be!
PERFECT! I live near there, and I couldn’t go in w my purse!!!! it was always something
