Look! Art!

“Look! Art!” is something we shout out when we’re driving somewhere and we see a mural or a sculpture, so it seems apropos here too!

It’s time to add art to the Studio! Here’s the space above my computer desk to fill. Remember, I’m a maximalist. I like to think I’m a CONTROLLED maximalist – I’m not a candidate for a TV show about hoarders, but I like a lot of things around. I needed SOME restraint, because I also didn’t want to cover up the beautiful wallpaper. Don’t worry, you can still see a lot of it in the room.

I’ve never planned out a wall of art, but this time I wanted to make sure I liked how it looked.

This piece is the biggest, and the wackiest. I googled “quirky Victorian art” and up it came! This is a prime example of “Hang art that delights you and makes you smile.” I ordered it on canvas, and used leftover framing from the TV project to frame it.

Here she is! I’ve named the flamingo “Claudia Jean,” and the woman riding her is “Marion Cotesworth-Haye.” And if you’re a fan of “The West Wing,” you’ll find this hilarious. If you’re not, watch “The West Wing.” It’s the best television that has ever existed.

Weirdly, I can’t find the link to the canvas I bought, but here’s a Paint-by-Number!

Next is a lovely picture of Doug and I that my friend Courtney took!

She took some amazing photos of us a while back – you can see them all here, if you are interested!

And then this sweet oil painting that I found at a local antique store here in town.

Next up a piece I found from a string artist in New York City at a pop up artist shop. It’s of the top of the Empire State Building.

Above that, a small canvas of a picture I took of the house after a good snow.

To the left side is a ridiculous AI picture of me, from an app that shows you different time periods. A friend loved it, and said it belonged in here, and I gave in!

The mom of one of graduated students took up water colors, and she made this very delightful print of the house.

I found a frame at a thrift shop for it. I LOVE IT, and it has its own place next to the hutch in the room.

Since I love to kill anything living that grows in dirt, I had my eye on a Lego Flower set for a while. Over Christmas break, we put it together!

It looks so fun with the wallpaper!

It’s on an antique shelf that I’ve had for years. And here’s a closer look at my AI portrait.

Here’s the whole wall done!

Since I was already hanging things, I also hung this autographed sheet music form the latest revival of “Sweeney Todd” on Broadway on the wall under the sheet music we found in the wall!

The art has really kicked the space up a notch FOR SURE.
